If you currently live in Georgia, have lived in Georgia or have worked for a company in Georgia, you should check with the Georgia Department of Revenue to see if you have property owed to you.
First, visit Georgia’s Department of Revenue by clicking Unclaimed Property Search. There, you can conduct your search to see if you are owed any funds by the state of Georgia.
Enter your last name or business, select the CAPTCHA and click Search Properties. You can also add your first name or city to narrow down the search results. Next, review the results to determine if any of the returned names are you.
Should you determine that there are funds owed to you, you will now need to file a claim to receive your funds.
In Georgia, most claims are paid within 30 days. At most, it could take up to 90 days to receive your funds from the date your claim is received.
The only asset that has limitations on how long you have to claim the property is the excess funds from the sale of an abandoned motor vehicle which are limited to one year.
