If you’re a resident of Missouri, you may be one of the many individuals who have unclaimed property waiting for you. The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for returning Unclaimed Property to Missourians, and there are currently over $1 billion in unclaimed assets waiting to be claimed.
In fact, 1 in 10 Missourians has unclaimed property, and the average return is $300.
Fortunately, claiming your unclaimed property in Missouri is a simple process. Simply visit the Treasurer’s Office’s Unclaimed Property Search and search for your name in their database. If you find a match, you’ll add the property to your cart and then when you are ready to proceed to checkout, you’ll need to fill out a claim form and provide proof of your identity including your Social Security number and address.
Missouri also lets you claim property for your loved ones who have passed away or you can choose to donate your claim to one of several charities.
There is no deadline for claiming your property. The Missouri State Treasurer maintains Unclaimed Property in trust for the rightful owners forever.
