If you currently live in California, have lived in California or have worked for a company in California, you should check with the California State Controller to see if you have funds owed to you.
First, visit the California Unclaimed Property Database by clicking Unclaimed Property Search Database. There, you can conduct your search to see if you are owed any funds by the state of California.
Enter your name or property number to get started. You can also include your address or city to narrow things down. Then select the CAPTCHA and click Search Properties.
Next, review the results to determine if any of the returned names are you.
Should you determine that there are funds owed to you, you will now need to file a claim to receive your funds.
If you do submit a claim and want to check the status of your claim, click here. Please wait approximately 30 days after filing your claim to see an updated status.
In California, there is no deadline to claim your property once it has been turned over to the State Controller.
