If you currently live in – or have previously lived in Michigan – or have worked for a company in Michigan, you should check with the Michigan Department of Treasury to see if you have funds owed to you. Michigan has returned over half a billion dollars in the last five years!
First, visit the Michigan Department of Treasury website by clicking Unclaimed Property Search. There, you can conduct your search to see if you or your business are owed any funds by the state of Michigan.
Enter your last name or business name to start your search. You can also include your first name, city, and zip code to narrow your results. Next, review the results to determine if any of the returned names are you.
Should you determine that there are funds owed to you, you will next need to file a claim to receive your funds. After you submit a claim, you can check here to see the status of your claim.
Contact the Michigan Department of Treasury by phone or complete an Inquiry Form (3433) and mail it to their office if looking for something that does not appear on the website.
