First, visit North Carolina’s Department of State Treasurer by clicking Unclaimed Property Search. There, you can conduct your search to see if you are owed any funds by the state of North Carolina.
Enter your last name or business name to get started. You can also add your city or zip code to narrow down the search results. Next, review the results to determine if any of the returned names are you.
Should you determine that there are funds owed to you, you will now need to file a claim to receive your funds. Understand the required forms and documentation you will need in order to submit your claim by clicking here.
In North Carolina, owners and heirs can claim their funds indefinitely, there is no deadline to claim your property.
If the owner is deceased, the executor of the deceased person’s estate may claim such funds with proper documentation.
