If you live in Washington state, or you have in the past, you may be one of the many residents who have unclaimed money waiting for them. In fact, the state’s Unclaimed Property Program has returned over $1.3 billion to people who didn’t know they had unclaimed funds.
Claiming your unclaimed property in Washington is a simple process that can be done online by clicking Search for Unclaimed Property. Then, simply enter your name or business name and click search. Select your property and click claim, then simply fill out the form with your identifying information, including your Social Security number.
Once approved, funds are sent to you via mail within 2-3 weeks.
There is no time limit for filing a claim. The Washington State Department of Revenue will hold unclaimed funds until the owner claims them.
